At some point this winter I'm going to be shutting off the content that's at this site: landscapingpennsylvania.com. The site was designed and coded by me and is hosted on the GTX server.

Do you like it? Do you work in PA? Would you like that site to be yours? For free (sorta)?

Here's the arrangement I had with the previous "tenant": I'd build it, I'd host it, all for free. But I own the URL. And there are small ads on each page that when clicked, I get a few cents. You can "rent" the site for free for as long as you want.

I thought this was going to be a money maker for me and a great deal for them. One of those was true. The one about the money? Not so much. But I'd hate to see the thing go to waste, so I'm going to offer it up in a random drawing, to have the same stipulations as the previous tenant did. I'll even put the content up for you, but you have to write it (I may tweak it for SEO purposes, which benefit you AND me), you have to provide photos of your own work. And if at some point you'd like to own the URL and the coding and the images I custom-created to make the site? $1,000 and it's all yours. But until then? Free as a bird.

If you're interested, send me a PM.

I don't have a closing date for this drawing thing - let's say it'll be the end of September.

Jeff

I had no idea such a site even existed. I'll take a look when I have some time... It's the time thing that leaves me doubtful.

I'll pm if I have any additional thoughts. Thanks

The time thing?

The time thing, as in writing the content.

I'm hoping to get a blog up for next year, kind of want to wrap my arms around how much time that takes before taking on too much else.

Not saying no as of yet, just explaining "the time thing".

Oh, hey, no worries. If I get no takers, I'll just write some content myself and leave it up.

A turn-key website with original content seems like a sweet deal for somebody... Surprised this one is going begging.

Personally not a PA scaper... N have my own site neway...
Was talking to someone the other day at the seed store fresh down from PA, warned him that gardening down here was going to be a very different thing from the eazy PA gardening... He said that he'd already been warned...

Where's edit on this forum?

I'm curious, what happened to the previous contractor? Seems like having information online about your business is almost a must...

He ended up having a site built by a local web designer, which really is what people should be doing, unless they are capable of doing it themselves.

I just visited the site, and I guess I'm not surprised they had a site built, with a different focus. They now look like they are primarily a mowing, lawn app and maintenance company and not so much on the design and install, and nary a picture of their work on the site. I don't quite understand that, but whatevs. Not my business.

Havent seen Matt on here for awhile. Why the heck would you get out of design build altogether ?

I dunno, but it's the last item in his links, and not a pic to be found of their hardscapes. There can't possibly be bigger margins in apps and mowing.

I don't know anything about the person being discussed...
I have seen people give up on installs when they discovered that they didn't have interest.

Lotsa maintenance crews out there, there's a belief that mowing turf doesn't require any smarts... Too bad (for their clients) that turf has a learning curve, same as everything else.
