We did a brick patio for a customer a few years ago on the north side of their house, and now they called asking how to get rid of moss on the brick. I heard bleach works, but am worried about it hurting the plants in nearby beds. Is there anything else that works good for this???

Time to make some money $$$ You can get a paver cleaner at Unilock that will clean the brick. A power washer will also do a good job of removing the moss.

Gardens Alive (.[URL=http://www.GardensAlive.com]) sells an "all natural" fungicide for control of moss on lawns, decks and roofs called "Moss Aside".

I haven't used it.

Pressure-washing provides some temporary relief, but this stuff will grow back. Watch out for using too high a pressure stream and dislodging base material from seams (more of a problem with the looser joints of flagstone paths and patios). Also, it is really easy to etch patterns into the surface with a pressure washer, necessitating a meticulous high pressure wash of every inch of every brick to restore a uniform "finish".

This is a serious problem for sure, as one of my clients has a DEADLY slick brick wall, that a handyman installed out of recycled bricks last year! No fatalities yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Bleach? No way!!!

Blast off and treat with bluestone copper sulphate. Lasts for approx 6 months. I used this method in our nursery.

Where does one buy Bluestone Copper Sulfate? What type of product is it?

It's used by Horticulturalists. Try your local plant nursery.

Just mix it in a watering can and water over the pavers. The pavers must be dry to do this, so the mixture absorbes into them. I forget what the ratio is.

I'll look into the copper sulfate - I also ordered a small bottle of the moss aside last night... shipping takes 10-14 days, so we'll see when it gets here how it works out.
