I'm very ambivalent to announce that we have spell checker!! I'm excited because it'll help save me by fixing my errors when I try to sound smart. :D I'm disappointed because the only way to do this at this point is using a relatively rigid system that doesn't allow us auto-correct every time we post, and because of the code scripting it doesn't allow us to put the button in a more obvious place, with a more obvious graphic.

So I think that makes me ambivalent.

The following is a tutorial on how to use spell checker....

It's only available on the full Reply screen, and not on the Quick Reply at the bottom of each thread. So click the 'Reply' button to go to the reply screen, and enter text as you normally would.

Once you've entered your text, scroll down just past the text entry field where you'll find the Spell Check button. Click it.

A new window will open up in your browser that looks like the picture below. Any word the system thinks you spelled incorrectly will be enclosed in a drop down box. Click the drop down box and there will be suggested spellings and words to choose from. If the word is spelled correctly, leave it alone. If it's incorrect but no suggested word fits the bill, choose -Manually Fix- and you can fix it after the spell check.

When you've reached the end of the text, there will be two buttons: Check Again or Finish Checking. If you're satisfied with the first check, choose Finish Checking.

The new window will change to reflect the newly checked entry. Click 'Insert in Document' and all of the corrections you made will be applied to your entry.

Then click 'Submit Reply' as you normally would.
