Hello,
I want to plant pines and I'm not sure on the proper spacing.
I want to stagger 2 rows so the trees form a nice border to block the neighbors views. Could someone please help?
Thanks.

White pines?
You could go 15 feet spacing and the limbs would touch each other to make a screen . They get pretty good size so be careful on what's around and above. Also they have a tendancy to die (like most other living things) easy if not planted properly.

Two approaches. The 'hort' way and the 'real world way'....
90% of customers don't want to wait for trees to grow in, so if you want immediate coverage, plant them so they are almost touching........
The correct way would be about 15-25' ft apart, but........how long do you want to wait?
I like to space them about 10' apart, but have planted them much closer for clients.
Last year I planted 10 ft douglas firs on top of each other for a client.................why??? Well, let me ask you this question. If your neighbor's living room window was directly across from your dining room table, and in the morning your neighbor liked to walk around in his birthday suit while your grand daughter ate her morning breakfast, does the term 'horticulturally correct' mean anything???????
LOL Penn.....
I have planted anywhere from 8 - 12 feet apart

Not all Pines are created equal, especially when people say "Pine" and could mean anything from Spruce, Fir, Redwood, Larch, Cedar, Juniper, and oh yeah, Pine.
Then of course the spread of a White Pine (Pinus strobus) would differ dramatically from the spread of say a Swiss Stone Pine (Pinus cembra).
Species please?!!!

I have gotten out of the habit of planting 'pine' trees, Pinus strobus. They get out of control way too quickly and start to lose lower branches as they age. My new goto screening tree is some form of Spruce, with a mix of other needle leaved evergreens for variety.

My favorite is the Black Hills Spruce. Perfect for the couple that frequents Sturgis &/or has Harley's. But that's just our area...... This is information that a professional landscape designer would be able to guide you towards. Where are you at though?
