View Full Version : Good Planting Job
Here is the bid I am working on tonite. It made my eyes bulge a little when I looked at the bottom line. It is for a school, and it is a negotiated contract. In other words we have the job. If the price is over their budget we will make adjustments. This is phase 3 of 6 over 6 years or so. Its the biggest total I've ever had on one job

Wow - that tops our biggest project by a long, long way. Congrats on landing that fish - she's a beauty!!
So is each 'Trees, Shrubs' section a different phase?
Nice job, prices here would be lower by about 1/3 to 1/2

Double-wow - Picea orientalis - I've never planted a $2,000 8-15' tree before. I'm green with envy :$$:
That is one phase. I took out the sub headings for display here. Now I have to add in the sod, mulch, etc.

I'm with Paul on the prices - for some of the material we plant here, even for my small quantities, prices would be a fair amount less.
The LA specifies EVERYTHING including where to buy the plants. They pick the most expensive nurseries in the country. I also have to guarantee them for 2 years. and work on their timeline. believe it or not I was low bidder by 40% on phase 1.
I think I need to start a branch office soon
Everyone I bid against on Phase 1 had at least an hour of travel time each way to build into their prices. Plus they had to keep up their fancy reputations. I'm just the local guy who does what he promises.

I am wondering if this is a private school or public, I know as a parent if I found out the school was planting 1 tree worth $2000.00 I would have a fit. No offence to you but I can think of better things at a school to spend $2000.00 on.
Now if its a private school or college I guess I could see it.
By the way I could not open the bid...any suggestions?
Private school. 500 million dollar endowment. However, they didn't touch the endowment, they asked the alumni for $, and one guy put up $10 million.
I had better double check it in the morning. I realize I've made a bunch of typos on this thread.

GQ - do you have Excel? If you do, if you click on the link it should open right up.
