Ok, it will be here tomorrow but here are the pics of the dump, I think it turned out beatifully! Its a custom body built for the truck 18GVW. This too will save so much time and allow us to take on larger scaled jobs. What do you guys think?

What type of motor is in that thing?

Its actually an 02' I believe and it has 100k on it. The motor is the typical 175 HP turbo diesel, the super lawn truck I just posted has the new 190 HP motor. The dump isnt going to win races but it handles its own with a hefty load.

What happens when you need to raise the cab when the engine wont start or whatever and the dumper is down? Does the cab clear the box over the cab?

That is very unlikely beings the dump works on a 12 volt pump, worst case scenario I hook an external battery up to it then lift the dump then manually pump the cab if I have no juice.

Nice truck. I think you'll clear the cab shield when tilting the cab but I would change that hoist. I guarantee you will hate it. I've had three trucks with electric because I was too cheap to spend the extra $ on the pto and regretted it every time.

Cool looking truck. It will be great for hauling mulch and landscape debris (trimmings, branches, etc.). The tendency of many drivers is to load until the truck is full, so if you're hauling gravel, soil or anything heavy be careful not to overload as the truck might look empty with that big box! Very cool truck.

As for electric vs hydraulic, on that truck I'd say stick with the electric hoist. It was a used truck ('02 w/ 100 K miles), so you bought it relatively inexpensively, added a hoist/bed and it's going to work. If you were running loads all day and dumping the electric would get old. But if you're parking it on the job with a load of material and pullling it off as the day goes, or loading it, then electric hoist is fine. Slower, but fine. We have two dumps, one with electric hoist and one with hydraulic. If we've got to run materials we use the hydraulic to delvier to loads or take stuff to the dump, faster up/down than the electric. Good luck with the new truck.

I am running 2 GMC W4500's both with electric hoist. One is an 00 the other an 03........no problems....Maybe 60 seconds slower than when I had Ford Super Duty dumps.......hardly noticeable.
