I live in Middle Georgia and have recently been invaded by this monster, what is it and how do I get rid of it?

Great photos -

I'm not a good weed ID guy - looks kinda like horse's tail, but doesn't have the segments like horse's tail.

So, I'm not sure - can't say that I've seen that exact thing in Wisconsin.

That's Eupatorium capillifolium, commonly known as Dog Fennel. And Sleepy is right..... 2 4 D will kill it. Check out this link

Middle Georgia and 24d. I used to live in Atlanta, so let me tell you about Fusilade. I know you have bermuda and zoysia and probably have problems with them.

Fusilade is as southern as grits and sweet tea.

Fusilade is a selective herbicide meant to kill primarily bermuda and zoysia. Selective means that you can spray it over or on fescue and it will kill the bermuda and Zoysia but not the fescue or lirophy or junipers. There is a list of plants it will kill and plants it won't kill. Make dead certain you know what plants you are spraying it on.

You can't find fusilade in Lowes or HD. It is available from a chemical supply company called Lesco. There are 2 Lesco stores in Atlanta. One is on Best Friend Road in Chamblee/ Doraville and the other is in Roswell / Cumming. Check with directory assistance. You might also find them on the internet.

While you are talking with the pros at Lesco ask about trimec and msma. We mixed them together and sprayed both at the same time.

Finally, one of the up sides to bemuda and zoysia is that it goes dormant. When it is nice and brown it isn't up taking nutrients or round up but the evergreen weeds are. If you are careful you can kill the evergreen weeds when the bermuda is dormant. Given the price of roundup you should spot spray.

Any questions ask the guys at Lesco they know their business.

you should have told him that you CANNOT spray fusilade on fescue in the summer time, you can only spray it late spring and mid fall

I had all the info on my old puter but it died and now I cant find it on the net. Any info on the correlation between the 2 will bring big brownie points to our professions saftey.
