As we're working on the hardscape display for our supplier there's a guy walking through the area, watching what we're doing. I say hello, he introduces himself as a guy that does some hardscapes in a market 80 miles from here.

He wants to know how much I charge for retaining walls - he says he thinks he's not charging enough. I told him our price varies by the project. He says they normally charge $14/face foot. Not really knowing who he was, and not wanting to give away too much info, I tell him that he should look at his own numbers - if he takes his amterials and labor and G&A, and after the work is done he still has the desired profit, then he's charging the right amount. And I left it at that.

So I guess I'm a hypocrite for not giving him exact figures, while I'll spout out all kinds of info here.

Go ahead - :tomato:

I don't think so....he's a competitor... on the other hand maybe you could of shared the necessary info to raise the bar in your area??
I would bet that the biggest indicator of his starvation for knowledge was the fact that he looks at each job by the 'face foot' rather than considering all the factors involved.
