Mushrooms!!!

I put new sod down at our new house last sept. The last week, I noticed a mushroom growing. I pulled it out and then today I noticed another one just like it about 5 feet away. I've looked on the internet and I think it's a black morel mushroom. WHAT DO I DO? Is my lawn doomed?

It's a morel?

What you do if it's a morel is you place an ad in the paper and sell then for $30 apiece.

Otherwise, you wait for the moist spring season to pass. When it does, so will your mushrooms.

Pretty sure its a morel. When I pull them out should I be getting the roots and everything or does it matter?

I’m not a morel officionado, so I don’t know. But I know that people will pay good money for them. Just don’t advertise where you live – otherwise you’ll wake up one morning and your morel problem will be gone. Almost like a small team of people came in during the night and stole all of them. ;)

If the goal is to be rid of them, do nothing. They will go away when things start to dry out. If the goal is harvest, see my previous post.

Highly doubt it is a morel (which grow in tree roots).

Mushrooms don't have roots. They are like the fruit of the real mushroom plant that lives in the soil. so picking mushrooms is like picking apples - doesn't do much to the tree.

If you don't do something fast they will quickly take over your yard and may infiltrate your house.

Just kidding, dryer conditions (better drainage or wait for summer) will resolve it.
