If you could have one or two specimen trees or plants that would thrive in your landscape, regardless of heat/cold/moisture/drought tolerance, what would you select?

My list would be huge, but I think that mostly i would like a Ravenala madagascariensis (Travelers Palm) or maybe a Hyophorbe lagenicaulis (Bottle Palm). I would also love to have a large 3 armed cactus. I can't think of the correct name for it right now and most of my books are on loan to clients.

Maybe you should look into interior landscaping. You get to use exotic species and it is year long to boot:)

My list would also be long. Among the palms would be Pheonix Robellini and Ponytail palm.

1) Pink Chimes Styrax
2) Japanese Stewartia
3) Dawn Redwood
4) Brunette Cimicifuga
5) Any and preferably all ornamental grasses

Ooops, that's what I've got (Though not quite all yet!).

What I want:
1) Purple Fountain Beech (Would love a Copper Beech, but too big)
2) Japanese Umbrella Pine
3) Shasta Viburnum
4) Dwarf Fothergilla
5) Japanese Skimmia
6) Any and preferably all trees and shrubs excluding yews and dwarf alberta spruce (though I'm sure there are some exceptions here too, SA Rainbow's End Spruce and Japanese Plum Yew!)
