I asked a friend to build us a small pergola which we got an idea from this Pergola (http://www.foreverredwood.com/pergola.html) site. We've decided that we put a we grow a clematis on the sides and we are still undecided on what vine would cover the top. What do you think is best? We want a vine that has flowers or fruits but would want a vine that does not attract bees that much. Wisteria is not on our list since it requires a Very sturdy pergola.

I have a client whose pergola is covered (top and sides) with Hydrangea anomala petiolaris climbing hydrangea). It had lovely flowers, spreads well and the stem/wood persists from one year to the next - the following years' growth comes from the previous years' wood.
