I'm looking for a recommendation on the underwater lighting for our pond instals.:Please:

I know it comes down to getting a good seal on the lights, But sometimes I feel like I'm wasting the customer money when the lights are corroding from the inside out after just a year or two.

I have been seeing more and more LEDs being used for the water contact lights. Since they are so new, can't really vouch for longevity.

I agree, but they feel more sturdy. lol They are a lot easier to hide that's nice in itself.

what about using a latex spray to cover the lights? I think I remember reading something like that in a Magazine a few times. ??

Aztlanlc - have you used a fiber optic system before? I remember you posting something about in-concrete fiber optics at Disney or something, a long time ago. Is that the kind of system you've tried?

As for the LED's - maybe it's just me, but the light tends to look unnatural. Or has that changed?

I found an LED mr16 (3540 equiv) the other day that boasted a warm light as opposed to the harsh blueish white light. At $24 a pop though - wow.

My father in law does swimming pools and I have help him to install those fiber optics lights, then I went to a class from aquascape last season and the contractor that lend his property to do the pond installed the system after aquascape left, we've being trying to sell this for our ponds but sometimes people don't want to spend that much on lighting.
8 light kit cost about 1500. and up

What kind of lights are you using now? Is there room for a good sized fixture or are you limited in space.

I've tried an underwater LED fixture from a reputable manufacturer recently that basically burned out or maybe leaked after 3 months. I need to talk with the rep before I rant, though. ha ha ha.

One thing I can tell you from my experience is underwater connections usually leak. Water will wick up a cord 20'. I don't care how much silicone or how tight the clamps are. That said, underwater lights usually don't last as long as the above ground counterparts.

I'll see if I can find the part numbers of the lights I've had some success with and post them tomorrow.

I ordered through ccl before, but they are now Affordable Quality Lighting. Lights lsted three years.
I think this time it came back to the owners not getting a good seal when they replaced the bulbs.

We're just looking for 4-5 lights on a 150 watt timer.

I will probably go with the same ones, but give them the spray sealer to change the bulbs with.
