My pump must have sucked in a stone or something hard. When I got home the pump was off and the breaker popped. I hit the breaker, it started but it hardly was pumping and overly quiet. I yanked the pump and peeking inside it appeared the plastic fins were sheared.
So what's involved with just replacing the fins?
My quess is the warranty won't cover this and even though I might just grab a new pump, I'd like to keep this one as a backup for me or a customer. (It's lesst than a year old.)

I guess it depends on the pump, but my impression was that to get at the fins you'd need to break the seals on the housing, seals you'd never be able to get back into factory-new shape. But your pump may be different.

ON some of the pumps I've used the fins have been outside of the sealed part. Was anything jammed against the shaft that caused the breaker to pop? I would think that with the fins gone and no resistance on the pump the breaker wouldn't pop.

We've replaced impellers on some pool pumps before but like Stonehenge said, we had to get new seals. On the pool pumps, it wasn't too hard to replace the seals as long as you had some type of mechanical knowledge.

Is there no indication of how the impeller may be attached to the pump? Maybe post a photo of the pump and someone can give a better opinion.

On easy pro pumps you can replace the fins and they send them out to you quickly also.
