Hey folks
I have been contracted to install a waterfall/stream. This is the first one of this size, I have used the box kits in the past. Nothing fancy. But now this is going to be a nice one located at a military base. The grading contractor has built a one acre lake and he has also built the mound for the waterfall. The top of the mound is 8' high, the stream area coming off the falls is about 10-12' wide and runs about 45' to the lake. We will be pulling out of the lake. My question is what size/type/manufactor of pump and same for the waterfall box. We would like for the stream to be 3' wide all the way down to the lake. Thanks in advance,
David

Looks like you need to do a little research on this one! Since this appears to be a major waterfeature, you really want to get the pump /pipe / filtration sizing right on the first try. I would speak to a manufacturer to see if they can offer design help.
I'm sure someone on here has a few more suggestions.

Good luck.

Make your own waterfall outlet from the ground and liner. This looks the best and I haven't found a good biofalls for that size unless you use 2 or more.

The pump is a hard one to say, I would think around a 10,000 for a single pump. It might be more cost effective to use 2 pumps.

Thanks for the replies. Here is what i've come up withand all this will be coming from Aquascapes. I know most of you guys fab your own but for this time I'm thinking of sticking with this. The pump will be the Tsurumi 9 PL 6800 GPH, which at 10 feet will produce about 6200 gph. The height is at seven feet for the waterfall. I will use the 6000 BIOFALLS Signature Series with 3" pipe running 50' from pump to BioFalls. Please provide comments to this setup. Also what to do you recommend for a pump vault since this is going to be at the bottom of a pond (5' deep).
Thanks David

I would suggest to over engineer the pump (20,000) and then have a control valve to lower the pump rate. That way they can crank it up when desired. Nothing worse than having a water fall without enough "wow" factor! Just my 2 cents.

I use a 7500gph pump on small stuff, I would go with at least 15000gph, for such a large pond your stream/falls should be in perspective IMO.
