I saw a company in a town a few days ago using a method I've never really seen before. It was a poured concrete slab still wet with some red/Terra cota paint or coloring in it. Once the slab was poured the guy came over with a small hand-held roller. It was only about 2 1/2 -3 feet wide and had the reverse of a section of pavers on it. The paver blocks were on the roll. He just started at one end of the slab and used it like a long paint roller. It was really cool. After that it was just left to dry. I saw this method being used in a busy road in a small town. The concrete made a walkway about 3 foot wide stretching from one side of the road to the other. I went over and asked the guy working on it. He said that the benefits of doing it on a road where that winter plows and cars could not tear it up. It would also never start to shift or buckle. A really good idea if you ask me. I asked him and he said that you could also use it on driveways, walkways, etc. Not a bad idea but still doesn't look as good as the real thing. :const:

And it tends to cost just as much as the real thing!!

Yeah all you have to do is buy the coloring and the roller, and cement. But I would still use real pavers for the residential jobs and this method for commercial type jobs.

Yes but at least it doesn't need replacing in spring after snowplows hit the edges with the plow blade.

If installed properly pavers will not be affected by snowplows.

Also, when it gets chipped, you have to replace the whole thing......not just one brick.
If you happen to notice Will.........were not to fond of stamped concrete around here.
Just remember 2 things.
Pavers ----- GOOD
Stamped Concrete-------BAD
any questions?

The guys doing stamped concrete here also put a slick sealer coat with additional color over the concrete. I hate walking on it because it doesn't have much traction especially on inclines. And I'm sure that the sealer will wear off.
There are two kinds of concrete, concrete thats cracked, and concrete thats gonna crack. Why not give it a few hundred places to do that!

Pennscapes...your right this was in a small town just before New York and have only seen it done in industrial parks up here. That's why I said it would be good for commercial applications, never residential.
