HI , I work for my self and have been in landscaping for 8yrs, I ma a licensed structural landscaper in qld. Here you must be licensed to do jobs over 3k.
I have had my business for 2yrs now and its thriving. I had my website built for 600 bux, bought a truck for <$1750 ><bargain a two tonne tipper . Bought a tool trailer for $800 bux and got about 20k worth of tools, I fastened two huge stainless tool boxes also on my truck and trailer and now from behind It looks the part with my signs . Printed up hats , shirts and have uniforms. Had 7 guys working at my peak but it didnt work as I spent to much time looking after them. Now Im back to one experienced guy and a couple of part timers. Im a kiwi who come to auz and just grabbed a small piece of the market as the money is heaps better. I had a company in nz the rate there was $40 bucks and hr to work for your self. But given the strength of the nz dollar
1. 37 nz to 1 auz dollar its chicken feed. Auz produces $55 an hr plus gst for me which I think is good. I generally quote but Id though I give you guys some feedback outside your sqaure. I understand its tough in usa at the moment. Whats the going rate over there per hr for self employment.
Anyway Im a bloke who set up a business on chicken feed and has made it.So dont give up. I work really hard and always look for ways to beef my website putting links on forums and free adds linking back on free add sites.

Im just finishing up on my biggest landscape yet 40K auz not including the pool I will add photos soon to my site soon. Its taken us 6 weeks
