Thought I'd post a couple before / after pics of the project we just finished.

The existing waterfall was lacking a few things. The concept was good but I'm not really sure what kind of company installed it.
Without ripping the entire thing apart and actually making it look like a natural stream, we proposed using the existing stones and adding a few more natural fieldstone boulders to extend the rocky hillside feel.
Planting pockets were dug out, existing soil ( nasty red clay ) discarded & organic planting mix added.
Now, without the large river rock in the stream area, the client can actually see the water flowing throughout the falls.
Hopefully the lighting will be installed shortly.

PS - The extension cord in the pic was just to test it, it's actually hard wired but they were out of town so we couldn't turn it on.

I like it! Is that a natural body of water it runs into?

It runs into a giant pond and gets recirculated. I would've liked to re-do the falls and incorporate more natural looking stones but that would have gone way over his budget.
Plus, the people who built it originally used a Mirafi fabric under all stones instead of a liner. No erosion problems yet but who knows what the future holds!

Looks almost like it should be there.

It's probably too small to have a major impact on the tree, although routing water features over tree roots is not preferred.

The rock color sure has a nice earth tone.
